1. How old do I need to be?
You need to be at least 18 years old
2. I have never played football before, does that matter?
A majority of our players have never played football before becoming a Warrior. Our coaches will teach you everything you need to know from the dimensions of a football field to tackling to learning your playbook. What we need are dedicated women who are eager to learn!
3. Are there many injuries?
Like any sport, especially a contact, physical sport such as football there will be injuries. The most common are pulled muscles and sprains. Of course you can decrease your risk by being in-shape, properly warming up and working on flexibility.
4. Do I need to attend all three tryouts?
You are not obligated to attend all three tryouts; however, after you pay and complete a tryout you are welcome and encouraged to come to the following try outs to work on your skills and conditioning, and to meet your potential teammates.
5. What are you looking for in a player?
We really want dedicated women who are eager to learn and have some type of athletic background. Many sports such as basketball, lacrosse, rugby and soccer translate very well onto the football field. Any background in sports is helpful. We are looking for women of ALL shapes and sizes!
6. When do you practice?
Practice begins in January inside in an indoor practice facility. In March, we will move to our outdoor football field. We practice every Tuesday and Thursday evening and on Saturday mornings through the end of March.
7. I cannot attend all practice; can I still be on the team?
Teams that have good attendance win more games. We highly encourage attendance but we understand that players have jobs and families outside of the team. We do expect players to have at least a 90% attendance.
8. What do you do at tryouts?
Tryouts are set up similar to an NFL Combine. We have a series of drills to test different skill sets and positions. Not every player will do great on every drill especially if you have not played football before. These drills give the coaches a look at your base athleticism and evaluate your potential for different positions.
Warrior’s Community
As Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads throughout the world our thoughts are with you. The health and safety of our athletes, coaches, operations and support staff, fans, sponsors and community remain our priority. We hope everyone is following the guidelines in their area and staying healthy and safe. We would like to provide an update on the 2021 season. Last year our league, the Womenʼs Football Alliance (WFA) had delayed the start of the season.
All in-person activities including practice, community outreach and fundraising have been confirmed to return and safe to resume. We are excited for the season and look forward to the opportunity to provide you with the best fan experience possible.
